I am back from Quilt Con with lots of photos. I wasn't sure what to expect when I got there but it turned out to be an amazing experience. For those of you who haven't heard of Quilt Con, it is the international conference and show by and for The Modern Quilt Guild. There was a juried modern quilt show with cash prizes, vendors, lectures, workshops from top modern quilters, and more. It was a lot of fun.
Not only were lots of modern quilts on display there were lots of quilting celebrities and royalty. As you can see I met Project Runway alum and quilter Jay Mccarroll. It's a terrible photo of me but Jay looks Fab. He had a patchwork skirt class that was sold out so I only got to chat with him.
Then I had dinner with quilting royalty, Marianne Fons. She is such a down to earth and interesting person. We discussed the modern quilting movement and we both came to the same conclussion, that we like it all modern, traditional and contemporay. Why do quilts even need to be labeled. Who doesn't love a traditional quilt in modern fabrics or a modern quilt designed in repro fabrics. Both Marianne and I decided we love it all. She is so inspiring!
The highlight of Quilt Con were all the quilts on display. I'm sorry I didn't photograph every quilt but there were hundreds. Here are the ones I did photograh.
Here's another great giveaway sponsored by Windham Fabrics. Wer're celebrating the new collection "I Like You" by the great comedian, author, and crafter Amy Sedaris. The winner will receive this fat quarter bundle of all 13 prints in the collection. Think of all the fun things you can make with these fabrics.

I'm off to Austin, Texas tomorrow to attend Quilt Con the inaugural international conference and show by and for The Modern Quilt Guild. I'm not sure what to expect but I will post lots of photos, so keep checking back. In the meantime, keep sewing and creating!
I tried to find the most appropriate quilt to show you on Valentine's Day . This one seems to fit the bill. The pattern is "Charming Log Cabin" by The Threaded Pear and the fabric is Country Lane designed by Bari J. Yes, we still have it in stock. This is a great pattern to use if you want to whip up a fast quilt and show off the charming and romantic florals of the fabric. It's a modern take on the traditional log cabin quilt.
Forget the candy, flowers and jewelry. A quilt is the perfect gift!
I finally finished the binding and luckily the sun came out so I could get the perfect photos. The quilt is made with every piece of Lotta Jansdotter Fabric. One each from the first collection "Echo", the second collection "Bella" and the newest collection "Glimma". Which is making its debut in April. See it here. Echo and Bella are still available here.
The backing is a yellow dot from the Bella collection and the binding is a gray pebble stripe also from Bella.
The quilting was done by long arm quilter Gail Suarez. I chose a block pattern to match the floating blocks of the quilt. It really finishes off the quilt beautifully. I love all my quilts but this is now one of my favorites.
Make one for yourself by entering this week's give-away. On Friday I will randomly pick a someone to win a charm square pack of Lotta Jandotter's "Glimma". Just leave a comment here.
